John Simonetta

Chief Operations Officer

John is one of three Simonetta brothers at the helm of the family-owned company established by their father, Tony, in 1978.
He joined Perfection Fresh as chief financial officer in 1997, following five years working as an associate at a Sydney law firm.
Today John, who moved to his current role in June 2005, is responsible for 60 employees at Perfection Fresh's six distribution centres, four value-add departments and order fulfilment departments attached to the distribution centres around the country.
In managing those departments and meeting customer requirements, John and his team set out to consistently deliver produce in full on time with quality (DIFOTQ).
In 2006, John oversaw the introduction of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) computer system throughout the company. It has revolutionised the way orders are received, prepared through the value-add facilities, invoiced and fulfilled. Previously, everything was recorded on paper.
In June 2005, he project-managed the establishment of Perfection Fresh's technologically advanced packing and value-adding facility for tomatoes and capsicums at Bundaberg, Queensland.
The facility processes in excess of 1.2 million pieces of fruit a day, producing an average of 90 packages per minute (with a capacity to reach 120) of completed product.
In 2000, a key development in the company's growth was the introduction to the market place of new products which are proprietary to Perfection Fresh. John says the company believes the future lies in streamlining processes - becoming the lowest cost producer of product, working smarter by reducing waste and inefficiency - in the current supply chain.
John has also been a director of the Sydney Markets' Credit Services since 2001.

In 2010, under John's direction, Perfection Fresh's Sydney warehouse and value-add facility underwent a significant expansion, resulting in 7,000 square metres of temperature-controlled space including specialised mango ripening rooms.
