The delicious, white-fleshed fruit stands out from the crowd due
to its unusual flat shape. Unlike standard peaches, the fruit
blooms out from the sides creating a striking shape often compared
to the rings of Saturn. The flat peaches feature a smooth yellow
skin and striking red blush, making them a popular choice for
consumers who prefer their peaches without the fuzz.
With such a distinctive look, it's no surprise that these peaches
were derived from an exotic family tree. Developed in the United
States, Taste Buddies® flat peaches are a cross between a
firm-fleshed peach variety and a saucer-shaped peach popular in
Asia for hundreds of years.
Sweeter in taste than other peaches, with delicious almond
overtones, Taste Buddies® are also lower in acid, which means they
stay sweeter for longer.
Go-anywhere fresh snacking
Taste Buddies® are in a class of their own when it comes to
go-anywhere, fresh-eating convenience.
Each peach is grown to a specification of 60mm to 80mm to allow
for easy handling. Taste Buddies® also feature a small nut-sized
stone which separates easily from the fruit, making for fuss-free
eating.
The smaller, flat shape of the Taste Buddies® means they are easy
for kid-sized hands to grasp and reluctant young fruit eaters are
often converted to healthy snacking by these quirky little
peaches.

Taste Buddies® flat peaches are a beautifully nutritious
convenience food. As well as containing fibre and Vitamins C and A,
they are also a rich source of antioxidants - which help promote
healthy skin.
Select and store
Pick peaches that are firm and plump and yield slightly to
pressure. They should have a pleasant fragrance and an attractive
red blush. Ripen at room temperature and chill before eating.
Outlets and availability
Taste Buddies® flat peaches are sold at Woolworths, Coles and
independent retail outlets around Australia. Look for them loose
and in 375g pre-packs. They are available from December to
February.
