Sable seedless® black grapes - the connoisseur's grape

Sable seedless® black grapes - the connoisseur's grape

Australian-grown Sable seedless® black grapes - known for their distinct muscat sweetness - are a grape connoisseur's choice.

Sable seedless® black grapes have an intense rich sweetness with distinct muscat overtones and tropical aroma. Because of their high sugar content - half glucose and half fructose - they add a robust, sweet and juicy contrast to salty, smoked, creamy or crunchy foods.

Sable seedless® black grape berries are round, plump and jet-black with a firm, crunchy texture.

Their seedless attribute increases their versatility and makes them a preferred choice for fresh fruit platters. Arranged attractively with other gourmet foods, they add bold colour and a smooth textural contrast.

Sable seedless® grapes are perfect in leafy salads where they work well with the bitter leaves of Treviso™ radicchio and witlof. They also add an individual flavour pop when used to garnish pavlovas, cheesecakes and tarts.

Sable seedless® are a Perfection Fresh specialty line. A late-season variety, they are available now, until March.

Chef-created flavour matches for Sable seedless®

  • Artisan dark chocolate truffles and sparkling red wine. Chef's flavour notes: The rich sweetness of the grapes is the perfect contrast with the bitterness of handmade dark Callebaut chocolate truffles with muscat liqueur centres. Try truffles rolled in crushed roasted pistachios, flaked almonds, cocoa or dipped in milk or white chocolate. Savour with a sparkling red wine.
  • Gourmet cheeses, fruit and nuts. Chef's flavour notes: Sable seedless® grapes provide a musky, sweet contrast and acid balance to rich, creamy and intense cheeses, fresh and dried fruits and a selection of nuts. Their firm juiciness also offers a refreshing counterpoint to soft, dried fruits and crunchy nuts.
  • Smoked salmon and crème fraiche. Chef's flavour notes: Sable seedless® add a burst of sweetness which enhances salty, smoky salmon stuffed with roe and spread with luscious crème fraiche on crusty bread. Partner with baby roma and grape tomatoes for colour and savoury-sweet contrast. Pop grapes in the mouth to cleanse and refresh the palate.

Outlets and availability
Sable seedless® black grapes are available nationally at Woolworths and independent retail outlets. Look for them at Coles stores nationally as "black seedless grapes". Sold loose by the bunch, they are available until March.

Selecting the best
Choose Sable seedless® black grapes with a uniform colour. Bunch clusters should be tightly packed, the berries should be plump and firm and stems green and fresh. The grapes' silvery coating is a natural bloom which protects their freshness. Store Sable seedless® unwashed in the fridge, rinse just before use and eat within four days.

Growing regions
Sable seedless® black grapes are grown in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
A variety developed in the United States by Sun World, they have been commercially available in Australia since 2007.
