Mandarin - Hickson

Members of the citrus family, mandarins are about the size of small oranges. Hickson mandarins are a medium to large-size mandarin and have an orange to slightly reddish colour with between 10 and 15 seeds per fruit. They have a high juice content and appealing flavour.

Seasonality

Available from May to September.

Serving suggestion

Mandarins can be juiced and used in salads and fruit salads. They can often be substituted for oranges in a variety of recipes for a slightly sweeter, milder taste.

Did you know?

An Australian hybrid, Hickson mandarins are widely believed to have been propagated by a Mr Hickson in Roma, Queensland in 1941.
