Mango - R2E2
Highly desirable R2E2 mangoes are a mid-season variety maturing two to four weeks after Kensington Pride. Mature R2E2 mangoes are beautifully yellow with a strong red blush and firm, non-fibrous flesh.
Flavour
Big, bold R2E2 mangoes have a mild, sweet taste with distinctive spicy undertones.
Nutrition
Mangoes are an excellent source of vitamin C and beta carotene and contain other related carotenoids. They also contribute vitamin E, fibre and potassium.

The average weight of an individual R2E2 is 600g. The flesh of a large, 240g mango contains approximately 400kJ (95 calories).
Serving suggestions
R2E2 mangoes are wonderful with ice cream, yoghurt with a large fruit enough to serve dessert for a family of four or try them blended with milk and yoghurt for a creamy smoothie.

How to select
The best way to buy a mango is to use your nose. A ripe fresh mango should have a fragrant tropical fruity aroma, a full colour and will give slightly to touch. Avoid very soft or bruised fruit.
How to store
Keep unripe mangoes at room temperature until ripe and then transfer to the fridge. A paper bag might help them ripen sooner. Store them in the fridge for up to two weeks.
