Apricot
Apricots were originally cultivated in Armenia, and are now grown worldwide. Apricots are stone fruits, and are most similar to peaches and plums. Apricots have a soft, downy skin, which ranges in colour from pale yellow to orange, sometimes with a flush of pink or red.

Available from November to February.
Serving suggestion
Apricots can be eaten raw or cooked, and are delicious juiced. They are traditionally used in flans, pastries and other desserts, as well as in jams and preserves. Try stuffing fresh apricots with a soft cheese and sprinkling with chopped nuts - delicious.
Did you know?
Apricots are high in beta carotene, vitamin C and fibre. Dried apricots are an excellent source of iron.
