Broccoli
Full of nutrients, broccoli belongs to the brassica family and is related to both the cabbage and the cauliflower. One of the world's most popular and versatile vegetables, broccoli originated in the eastern Mediterranean area and spread to Italy in the 16th century.

Serving suggestion
Broccoli can be stir-fried, blanched, steamed, boiled or baked until just tender and a bright green colour. It can also be blanched or eaten raw with dips. It can be eaten whole or broken into florets.

Known for its cancer fighting properties, broccoli is extremely nutritious. It is an excellent source of vitamin C and a source of folate. It is a source of fibre and is very low in salt and low in fat.
