Cabbage - Plain
Cabbage, the oldest and most widely grown vegetable of the brassica family, is related to both broccoli and cauliflower. Cabbages have short, petioled leaves and a compact head. Plain cabbages are a light green in colour and round in shape.
Seasonality
Available from January to December.
Serving suggestion
Cabbage can be stirfried, blanched, steamed, boiled or used for salad. It is used traditionally as a base for coleslaw and can also be pickled. Try slicing cabbage for use in spring rolls, or make cabbage rolls by using whole leaves as edible wraps for other fillings.
