Cherry Bon Bons
Cherries and chocolate are perfect partners in this heavenly treat which will delight at any occasion.
Makes 48 cookies.
Prep Time: 20 minutes.
Cooking Time: 12 minutes.
Ingredients
- 48 cherries, pitted
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tsp cherry flavouring (optional)
- 175g semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
Cooking Instructions
- Beat butter, sugar and baking powder with electric mixer until blended.
- Add egg, vanilla and cherry flavouring and beat until well combined. Gradually beat in combined flour and cocoa mixture.
- Shape dough into small balls, 2 1/2 cm in size, and place on ungreased baking sheet. Press down centre of each ball with thumb to create a small hollow and fill each centre with a cherry.
- Heat oven to 180°C. In small pan over low heat, combine chocolate chips and condensed milk and heat until chocolate is melted.
- Spoon about 1 tsp chocolate mixture over each cherry, spreading to cover cherry.
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until done. Remove to wire racks and cool.
