7 Healthy, No-Fuss Snacks that are perfect for anyone on the go

By the time you’ve bathed the kids, dressed them, packed the pram in the car, and got them ready and waiting by the door, it’s all too tempting to just reach into the pantry and grab a few quick packaged snacks to keep them happy while going about your busy day. Though they’re quick and easy for you, those pre-packaged treats are not always the best – or healthiest – option for them. Instead, consider stocking your fridge and pantry with a selection of these 100% healthy, no-fuss snacks, perfect for eating on the go. 

Qukes®

Not to be mistaken with baby or early-harvest cucumbers, Qukes® are a unique variety of cucumbers that are grown to be mini. A go-to for little hands, these cute little Qukes® are crunchy, cool, and have a delicious sweetness you just don’t get from other small cucumber varieties. They’re also an excellent source of vitamins K, B, and C and a great way to sneak some extra water into the diet on a hot day or after a long morning of play. Simply rinse and serve them as is, skin and all.

If you find yourself with a tiny bit more time on your hands before you’re to get out the door, here are some fun ‘10-minute-or-less’ snack ideas you can try to really get the best out of your cool, crispy Qukes®. Try rolling them in some smoked salmon and creme fraiche, coating them in some bread crumbs ‘schnitty’ style, or popping them atop an ‘apple’ doughnut for the ultimate in fun, healthy treats.  Or make colourful ham, cheese and veggie sandwiches that are perfect for the school lunchbox!.

Mix-a-Mato® tomatoes

Full of natural antioxidants and vitamins A, C, and E, Mix-o-Mato® tomatoes make a fabulous healthy snack on the go. All they need is a quick wash, and they’re ready for eating. Try throwing a rainbow handful of Mix-a-Mato® tomatoes into a reusable container with some Easy Peasy® sugar snap peas and a few Qukes® to give curious little eaters all the variety they need. If you’re feeling particularly creative, get busy the night before and prep these fun racing car Qukes® with little Mix-o-Mato® drivers. Pull them out of the fridge in the morning and watch their little faces light up at snack time!

Autumn Crisp® Grapes

Running out the door and need a kid-friendly snack fast? Grab a small cluster of grapes. They’re high in vitamins C and K and easy for little hands to manage without too much trouble. You can even freeze them ahead of time for a delicious treat in the heat of the day. Go for a seedless variety like the Autumn Crisp®, so there’s no spitting of pips or throwing of food-related tantrums.

Minicaps® Baby Capsicums

Minicaps® look like chillies but the sweet, crispy baby capsicums don’t pack any of the heat (just a whole lot of Vitamin C). They’re a specific variety of capsicum, grown to be mini making them perfect on-the-go snacks for little hands. Let the kids sink their teeth in and enjoy the sun-ripened sweetness as is, or thread them onto a skewer with some Qukes®, Mix-a-Mato® tomatoes, and some Easy Peasy® sugar snap peas for a quick, easy, and colourful snack.

Easy Peasy® Sugar snap peas

Crisp, juicy, and sweet, sugar snap peas are a delicious treat when eaten as is. Bonus: they’re fibre and vitamin-laden too. If time is of the essence when prepping snacks for the kids, opt for stringless Easy Peasy® Sugar Snap Peas that require little more than a rinse before serving. To up your kids’ greens intake, throw in a few slices of apple and a Quke® or two too.

Blueberries

Perfection blueberries make sweet treats for little hands. Not only that, they’re packed with antioxidants, calcium, and magnesium for growing bodies. Raspberries
