3 cups pomegranates
1/4 cup milk
2 tbsp lemon juice
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg

Preheat oven to 190°C.
Measure flour, baking powder, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Stir with a fork to mix.
Cream butter and sugars in a large bowl until fluffy. Beat in egg, milk and lemon juice.
Stir in flour mixture, a little at a time, until well blended. Stir in pomegranate arils.
Drop dough by the teaspoonful, about 2.5cm apart, onto greased cookie sheets, or use cookie cutters to make different shapes.
Bake 15 minutes, or until firm and golden. Cool on racks.
