Stages of Ripeness

Kumato® is delicious at any stage of ripening

  • Green-brown: firm texture, crisp bite, tangy flavour. Slices beautifully, perfect for salads & sandwiches

  • Dark brown: balanced sweetness and acidity, it's ideal eating stage. Best enjoyed fresh but is also ideal for stuffing, pan roasting, sauces, chutneys and soups

  • Deep red-brown: juicy, soft with a mild flavour, perfect for sauces

Flavour Pairings

Kumato® loves bold companions. Pair with spices such as chili flakes, garlic, black pepper, smoked paprika and nutmeg to herbs such as basil, parsley, thyme, coriander and bay leaves. Mediterranean flavours go perfectly - think olives, feta cheese and parmesan with sourdough.

    They are the best tomatoes, are always beautiful and juicy. Are my always my first choice.

    Kumato tomatoes are the only tomatoes I can eat. Taste fantastic and as I tell people when shopping in supermarket, "Once you have tasted Kumato tomatoes you won't eat any other variety." Only Rouge de Marmande variety comes close. Living in Victoria, I am having withdrawal symptoms as they don't seem to be available during Winter. Hope they are in Supermarkets soon. DP.
